Gold Swiss-Belhotel Dubai is bringing art to its guests, via a new initiative whereby the hotel’s restaurants and public areas will become gallery space for local and visiting artists.

Commencing this month, the hotel has commissioned Elizabeth Orchard to paint exclusive pieces for Senses restaurant, as well as the hotel’s lobby and business centre.

The property’s general manager, Nils Rothbarth, commented: “As a four star hotel catering to the middle-market, we have more freedom than the five-star brands to think outside the box when it comes to interiors and decorative arts.

“We approached Elizabeth as our first featured artist because of her contemporary style and adventurous use of colour, which complements the hotel interior,” Rothbarth explained.

The paintings exhibited on the hotel’s walls are all available for purchase, with prices ranging from AED 2000-10,000 (US $545-2723).

In addition to turning wall space into a gallery, Gold Swiss-Belhotel Dubai is planning to introduce monthly art workshops later this year.

According to Rothbarth, the hands-on workshops will be hosted by a different artist each month and will include art materials and lunch.

“We are in the process of finalising the calendar for the year. The Art Workshops will be aimed at anyone who wants to explore, learn or develop their creative talents,” he said.

“We are on the look-out now for artists that would like to work with us on this programme which supports the visual arts.”
