A fire that broke out before the opening of Gulfood this morning on an exhibitor’s stand is being investigated by the Dubai World Trade Centre.

The small fire was discovered by the DWTC security division as it was doing its pre-opening checks.

According to a statement released by the DWTC, the incident was “promptly brought under control” allowing the largest ever edition of Gulfood to open on time.

DWTC protocol and security senior vice president Abdulrahman Obaid said the property “adheres to stringent health and safety policies and our team is uncompromising in its monitoring”.

“This isolated incident was dealt with immediately and efficiently. The highly anticipated Gulfood exhibition is now preparing to welcome thousands of visitors for a week of very productive business,” Obaid added.
