The secret to big business is simply to adapt to the current climate and put the consumer in the driving seat, according to one Dubai-based supplier.

Speaking at Gulfood, Alokozay International marketing manager Tara Doddihal explained: “I’d definitely say one big trend consuners are looking for in the current climate is breadth of choice. The consumer is definitely back to being king!

“We have been in the market for the past five years, with black and green teas being our mainstay — but now following consumer demands, we’ve introduced flavours as well,” continued Doddihal.

“We have peach, mint, camomile and lemon. We’ve conducted tastings at the show, and the products will be on the market in March.”

The firm’s general manager Mohammad Khan Saddozai added that the focus for the show was to demonstrate the products’ quality.

“In addition to the appeal of new flavours, we also have attractive and practical packaging — but the quality of this product speaks for itself,” he asserted.

The company confirmed that although retail was its primary focus, it was now also focusing on the HORECA sector.
