Usain Bolt and Serena Williams scooped the Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year awards at Wednesday night’s Laureus Sports Awards in Abu Dhabi.

It is the second time Bolt has won the title after scooping the award last year. Williams has also won the award previously, reports Associated Press.

The awards recognise sporting achievements for the calendar year 2009.

Last year Bolt set new world records in the 100m and 200m as well as winning three gold medals in the track world championships, while Williams retained her No1 ranking after winning both Wimbledon and the Australian Open.
