Pakistani officials have said more than 150 people were killed when a passenger jet crashed in Pakistan's capital Islamabad.

It is reported that 90 bodies have been found but authorities have already warned that is was unlikely anyone will be found alive.

The aircraft crashed in the Margalla Hills as it was coming in to land in heavy rain, according to Pervez George, a spokesman for the civil aviation authority.

"The plane was about to land at the Islamabad airport when it lost contact with the control tower, and later we learned that the plane had crashed," Hills said. There were 146 passengers and six crew on board the Airblue plane.

Pakistani TV crews are in helicopters at the scene.
