David Miras triumphed in the particularly competitive Sous Chef of the Year category, sponsored by TSSC, at the Caterer Awards last night.

The judges noted that David showed remarkable innovation and organizational skills, joining as a member of the launch crew of the outlet and being a major part of its success.

The judges also praised him as a mentor and role model for other chefs and stewards.

The chef was also praised for handpicking local seafood produce. David has over 20 years experience in both Europe and South East Asia and is widely regarded in the culinary scene as a perfectionist

Miras said: “This award has been the cherry on top of my time in the Middle East. Since being nominated I have decided to move to the Philipines to work as an executive chef, so this is a great award to take away with me”

"Of course this was only made possible by all of the chefs who have given me inspiration over the years, and by my team —because you are only as good as your team — and of course by Mr Patrick, the GM."

S T Murugan from Hilton Dubai Jumeirah was highly commended.
