Atul Khundra, Le Meridien/The Westin picked up the Educator of the Year award at last night's Caterer Middle East Awards.

The Educator of the Year Award honours an individual who makes an invaluable contribution to Food and Beverage learning.

Atul Kundra, chef de cuisine in the hotel, is responsible for ensuring that the kitchen complies with rigorous hygiene standards. He trains staff on new brand standards and oversees staff training on new menus.

The judges noted that Atul approaches training in an entertaining, light-hearted manner and that he works very well with his staff.

Kundra was presented with the award by Samer Abou Daher, sales manager of awards spomsors Horeca Trade.

He said: " This award has inspired me a lot. I have been maintaining brand standards, maintaining hygiene and working hard and implementing new ideas," he said.
