A Russian company has announced its plan to launch a comfy space hotel for tourists.

Previous space tourists have had to put up with cramped conditions, but the plans from Orbital Technologies will offer those that can afford it home comforts and incredible porthole views of Earth.

Chief executive Sergei Kostenko told RIA Novosti news agency that the first module will measure 20 cubic metres and have four cabins for up to seven passengers.

"Our planned module inside will not remind you of the ISS. A hotel should be comfortable inside, and it will be possible to look at the Earth through large portholes," Kostenko said.

The space hotel will be built by Russian spacecraft manufacturer Energia.

Space hotels have captured the imagination of many companies, some of the designs can be seen in our Top 10 Hotels of the Future.
