Five candidates have been shortlisted for the Hotelier Middle East Awards F&B Manager of the Year.

The judges for the F&B Manager category had a tough job on their hands, as there were several hundred entries in this strong category.

The finalists demonstrated an incredible ability to keep staff motivated while ensuring returns - no easy task.

And the finalists are:

Tolga S Lacin, complex executive assistant manager / food and beverage Mina Seyahi Complex - The Westin and Le Meridien
Tolga has been an asset to the Mina Seyahi Complex, driving revenue in a challenging market. He has ensured that the Mina Seyahi Complex offers competitive food and beverage offerings as well as ensuring that they give Dubai what they need in terms of value for money and creativity.

Ricky Tursunov, F&B manager, Crowne Plaza Sohar
Ricky Tursunov is also a board member of the Sohar Development office tourism and development section, his involvement in different committees and contribution for development will also drive business in to the Hotel, and he led the Organic Garden Project that won the ‘Green Innovation Award’ at the Oman Green Awards.

Ayman Gharib, executive assistant manager, Food & Beverage, Raffles Dubai
Ayman cares so deeply for his team and invests a significant amount of time in the training and development of people who share a similar passion for their work and commitment to the team. He is a firm believer that hard work should be rewarded and has demonstrated this on numerous occasions. The number of internal transfers and promotions since Ayman has been in charge of F&B? More than 44!

Norbert Borszcz, EAM F&B, InterContinental Jeddah
He ensures the entire F&B Team is engaged in understanding the market and guest needs by conducting a quarterly hotels and restaurants’ shopping around the district of Jeddah, to know the trends and seek ways to improve products and services.

Peter Avram, F&B Manager, Jumeirah Beach Hotel
Peter was instrumental in actively reducing and controlling labor as well as operating costs within the F&B department. Under Peter's leadership, the morale amongst F&B staff also improved notably, as was shown by the results of several internal surveys conducted by Human Resources amongst F&B line-level staff.

The winner will be announced in just three days, at the Hotelier Middle East Awards on October 14 at Madinat Jumeirah Resort.
