A Filipino man allegedly hung himself inside a lavatory of a Philippines-bound Gulf Air flight, according to airline officials.

Marton Cueva was found by a flight attendant en route to Manila from Bahrain.

Leoncio Nakpil, head of security of Gulf Air in Manila, said the cabin crew had to force open the lavatory door after Cueva did not return to his seat for landing.

Despite attempts to revive Cueva, a power plant technician in Dubai, they were unable to help him.

One passenger was reported to have told investigators that Cueva was asking other passengers to “forgive me for all my sins”.

According to the deceased’s family, he had called form Dubai to ensure they would be at the airport for his arrival.
