Makkah Clock Royal Tower opens for Hajj

Fairmont Hotel & Resorts has opened Makkah Clock Royal Tower, A Fairmont Hotel, located next to the Holy Ka’aba Islam’s most sacred site.

Makkah Clock Royal Tower is the tallest concrete building in the world, with 76 stories reaching 577 meters and housing 858 rooms and suites.

The 40-meter clock, whose four facades are visible from 17 kilometers away, is more than five times larger than Big Ben in London, and will announce daily prayers through amplifiers reaching a radius of 7 kilometers.

Mohammad Arkobi, vice president and managing director, FRHI Makkah KSA, expressed his joy and pride in opening the hotel in Makkah.

The Tower houses a lunar observatory center, in addition to a museum for Islamic icons and objects of arts, serving to preserve and promote the region’s culture and heritage.

The hotel boasts 10 thousand kilometers of fiber optic cable for communications and Internet connection for the guests.

The property’s 76 elevators provide transfers during Azan (calls to prayer) and high-occupancy Umrah and Hajj seasons and the hotel also features access to the Haram, as well as two large prayer rooms for male and female guests.

Guests at Makkah Clock Royal Tower will have access to a variety of international cuisines including the "Al-Dira", which offers local flavors from the various districts of the Kingdom and will introduce guests to the culture of oriental Saudi cuisine.
