This is disgusting! Human beings can think of all kinds of ways to profit through it! May you be poached, captured and slaughtered just as the camels will be since you are getting a slaughtering plant ready anyway! The animals have total rights in this world, on this earth. Why do you think you have the rights to capture them in the wilds and have them become meat piece to generate income for you? Are you going to make donations to worldwide charity for this action of yours? Horrible and disgusted with this article and the named man who thought of this idea!

Tom Cruze is a perfect example of Aust. spirit ??? No worries mate, we understand what is called black sheep among the crowds. Australia will not be tainted by individuals like you. Thank the earth that you have a space to live in. I wil not suggest Mr Tom Cruze be putting an end to his life through the use of the slaughter plant though..Oops!!

why is it that modern society only chooses 4 or 5 sources of meat from all animals. the demand on farm land for cows and their contribution to the green house gases, needs to be resolved. Well done for looking at other sources of meat which are available and easily sourced without further destruction to our environment.

@Dubai Resident: I wonder how well you understood the article or how much you know about the FERAL camels of Australia. First of all, there are no native camel species in Australia since they were first introduced to Australia around 100 years ago by the early settlers. In other words, there are no ?camels in the wild?. Secondly, without natural enemies, Australian camels now run to more than 1 million, with the population growing at 10% annually? meaning their population doubles every 9 or 10 years. They are considered pests because they compete with livestock for food, trample native plant species and scare people in remote areas as they rip water pipes, bathrooms, and other infrastructure during droughts. Thirdly, camels have been culled for years, in an attempt to prevent their destructive impact on natural and manmade environment. The plan to slaughter 100,000 camels annually only controls the growth of the feral camel population but will not have a major impact on decreasing the population itself. What option would you propose? Cull the camels and leave their carcasses to rot? At least these camels are free-range? not like the oftentimes inhumane raising and slaughter of livestock that you buy in your local supermarket.
