"You hit me, I hit you back..." Like in the kindergarden! If I read all this my conclusion is: There might be some truth in each story and there might be some fault in each story too. The wiser gives way - as we used to say in Germany. I can´t discover any in here. And I can´t take any of the parties involved serious. Quintessence: Neither I need self nominated "Food Blogger" nor chefs who are too self-convinced. Best option for me - I do my own experience and I pick what attracts me (in any way). Pasta! (Oh - my bad - sorry... It´s Basta!) ;)

Great comments from you Samantha. It's about time that someone state the fact that most restaurants charge exorbitant amounts for decent food and sub-par service here in the UAE. Restaurateurs need to recognise this as the competition is fierce and there are as many closing down, maybe more, than opening. Hopefully the review is a small part of this awakening.

As a blogger (www.holdtheprosecco.com) and ex Dubai resident, I feel it important to maintain impartiality -- and say things as they are -- (or not as in this case)! Sam is a well respected blogger and I think her professionalism in defending her stance speaks reams. If I am ever comped something I always illuminate this as am sure Sam would. I think the restaranteur in question needs to fine tune his actions and take whatever Sam's reviewer wrote as constructive criticism.

In my humble opinion - I believe Samantha Wood is entitled to say what she wants to, however I have seen her in the restaurant scene and her attitude stinks. She is entitled and favours restaurants that favour her (dine around/personal wedding/reviews) i.e Folly. While I believe her dine around dubai is a good concept, it is not authentic and doesn't really unlock any hidden gems in this city which is what restaurant reviewers or so called "industry influencers" should do.
