Bryan Labrador is part of the pre-opening team of the Hilton Kuwait Resort who has consistently served his fellow staff with so much care and attention, but most importantly, he has brought about friendship and camaraderie binding each and every staff to be a team regardless of their stature and difference in culture. Bryan deserves to be the HR Person Of The Year not just because of the amount of efforts he has exerted for the past 6 1/2 years but rather because he gave us something that is beyond what is expected of him... HE GAVE US A PART OF HIS SOUL AND A SMILE ON OUR FACES.

Dear Distinguished contributors to this forum, As a childhood friend of Kaustav, I am humbled having perused through all the kind words you have bestowed on my buddy and needless to say I am obviously proud of him. While it has been of keen interest to read through your postings at various stages of your professional association with Kaustav; I can only fondly introspect on our childhood days. The fact that Kaustav visited my parents while visiting Rourkela (Orissa, India) last month, after a gap of 19 years (since both of us moved out of Rourkela for our graduate studies) shows that he is as much a son to my parents as he is a friend "Bondhu" to me. The humility which he has imbibed from his parents has surely been passed on well to his children. Needless to mention that his wife is such a huge anchor of the family and here is one small & sweet family that is well knit, laughs together and has it's meal together. God bless you all. As an outsider w.r.t the hotel industry and HR for that matter; I am not sure what is the eventual criteria for selecting the winner. However, I can probably assume that if a man has a happy family, he can rub that happiness onto many other families around him. I guess that is what evident from the various forum postings.....and I am sure each one of you had the opportunity to experience so. Coming to the specific reason for contributing my posting, I remember the story of "A Boy And A Starfish". (I guess many of you HR personnel would have used this story at some point of time in your career as HR professional): QUOTE One day an old man was walking along the beach in the early morning and noticed the tide had washed thousands of starfish up on the shore. Up ahead in the distance he spotted a boy who appeared to be gathering up the starfish and one by one tossing them back into the ocean. He approached the boy and asked him why he spent so much energy doing what seemed to be a waste of time. The boy replied, "If these starfish are left out here like this they will bake in the sun, and by this afternoon they will all be dead." The old man gazed out as far as he could see and responded, "But, there must be hundreds of miles of beach and thousands of starfish. You can't possibly rescue all of them. What difference is throwing a few back going to make anyway?" The boy then held up the starfish he had in his hand and replied, "It's sure going to make a lot of difference to this one!" UNQUOTE My friend Kaustav is like the little boy in the story. I am not sure how many of our school mates or childhood friends would take out time to contribute here, but I know for sure that Kaustav did make a difference to each and every one, including our class mates, as much as for our teachers at school and way down until the janitor. Looking back on the days when we had to cycle down to our school at Rourkela, to wherever we are today in our professional career, Kaustav remains firmly grounded to the value his parents have passed on and I pray to "Dada Bhai" that my friend may be bestowed with the winner's award, as men like KAUSTAV are a rare species these days. GOD bless you buddy.......you don't need me to write a forum posting for you.....you know that you always have my prayers.....yet this is a competition....n so be it. Cheers and Good luck

If there is a word that best describes Bryan, that's "People person", his passion with people is tremendously amazing, binding each and everyone in the Hilton Kuwait resort team. That is why, if there is anyone who deserves to have the HR Person of the year award, that's no one else but Bryan!
