Rupprecht Queitsch, CEO, senior partner, INHOCO Group — International Hospitality Consulting Group
Having worked in the hotel business for 40 years in 21 hotels, Rupprecht Queitsch has recently left his role as general manager for the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai — which became the largest hotel in Dubai and tallest hotel in the world when it opened in November 2012 — to set up his own consulting firm in Dubai, the INHOCO Group. Prior to moving to the emirate in 2011, Queitsch had worked for 24 years as a general manager, including six openings and two large-scale rebrandings. This included the Paris Marriott Rive Gauche Hotel & Conference Center, a takeover from Accor to become Europe’s largest Marriott hotel in the convention capital.
As he prepares to judge the Hotelier Awards shortlist, Queitsch advises: “The margin between how one does the job, versus another, is often slim —I will look less at the technical skills, more at how personal engagement and inspiration turns the candidate’s performance from a “good one” to an “exceptional one”.
“I’ll be looking for how each candidate makes a difference, both through individual contributions and as a team player, and how the nominated champion gets inspired and then translates it into success,” he says. “I’m looking forward to the unique opportunity to learn all about the stars our exciting business has, what makes them champions in their field, and how their personal engagement makes a difference to their operation.”
