Louise Oakley, senior group editor, Hospitality and Construction Week, ITP Business
Louise Oakley is senior group editor at ITP Business Publishing, based in Dubai, responsible for Hotelier Middle East, Caterer Middle East, Arabian Travel News and Construction Week. She has been editor of ITP Business’ flagship title Hotelier Middle East since April 2009, a position she continues to hold. Oakley moved to Dubai in October 2007 as launch editor for Leisure Manager Middle East after working on similar industry titles in the UK and over the 10 years, she has developed a wealth of knowledge and experience of the hospitality industry, particularly in this region.
Chair of the Hotelier Awards judging panel for the past five years, Oakley this year is urging hoteliers to think carefully about who they nominate and how they present them.
“The hospitality team at ITP Business often has in excess of 600 nominations to read every year as we create first a long list, and then a shortlist for the judges. We then present the judges with the five best nominations in each category — that’s 95 in total. To ensure your nomination stands out and that your colleague’s achievements are fairly considered, please heed the word counts on the nomination forms and tailor your submission to highlight your colleague’s achievements in 2013-2014. Please don’t list their daily responsibilities; instead, tell us about initiatives they have launched, projects they’ve delivered and the unique approaches they have taken to contribute to your hotel’s success. Nominate the person who you would be devastated to hear was leaving your company for another; they deserve to be celebrated!”
