Dr Ibrahim Alsini, Dean, Tourism Institute, King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia
Boosting the educational representation of the judging panel, and championing nominees in Saudi Arabia, is Dr Ibrahim Alsini, Dean of the Tourism Institute at King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah. He has a PhD degree in Hospitality Management from Surrey University, UK, holds a proficiency certificate in Hospitality Management from Ecóle Hotelier de Lausanne, Switzerland and is also certified consultant in International Etiquette and Protocol from the Protocol School of Washington. Dr Alsini also holds the position of Executive Consultant for Dhyafat Albalad Alameen Company, owned by the Municipality of Holy Makkah, which focuses on hospitality and tourism development in the Makkah region. He is currently involved in research into employee service quality in the hospitality industry while previous collaborative research papers include 'Saudisation in the hotel industry', ‘Opportunity or Challenge’, ‘Expatriate Hospitality Workers in Arab Gulf Countries’, ‘The Relationships between Individual and Organisational Service Orientation in the Hotel Industry’ and ‘The antecedents of employee service quality in the hotel industry: A service orientation perspective’, among others.
With a passion for recognising talent and analysing its impact, Dr Alsini is certain to bring a fresh perspective to the judging panel. He says: “One of my greatest interests in research as well as in practice is to look at how talented and service oriented personnel make a difference in satisfying guests and gaining their trust and loyalty for the brand as a result of their service. Therefore, it is an honour to be part of the team that recognises those wonderful people who have contributed enormously to the success of our hospitality industry."
