Hyatt Capital Gate Abu Dhabi, located within the Capital Gate building which leans a record-breaking 18 degrees, is expected to open in the first quarter of 2012.

The hotel, which forms part of the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) development, was initially scheduled to open at the end of 2011, according to Hyatt’s website.

“We’re in the final throes of putting it all together. We’ll be taking bookings just before the end of the year,” Hyatt International – South West Asia managing director Peter Fulton told Hotelier Middle East.

Fulton also revealed that the hotel would form one of a small number of new hotels globally, branded simply as “Hyatt”, without a “Grand” or “Park” attached to its name.

“We opened one in Manhattan recently [Hyatt 48 Lex], and we’ve had a couple of others around the world. So these hotels are just another end of Hyatt. They are still five-star, but don’t have the extensive meeting facilities that other hotels have."

Fulton explained that the 189-room hotel’s relatively small inventory “ruled out” it being branded as a “Grand” hotel, while the location did not fit a “Park” Hyatt.

The Hyatt Capital Gate occupies floors 18-33 of the Capital Gate building.
