A pancake-making machine, one of the products on display at the Caterer Middle East Conference 2012, was a sterling success, getting orders on the day.

The Popcake machine, which is designed to produce perfectly-cooked pancakes, got the attention of executive chefs, with orders placed within the opening hours.

“We’ve had a great response. There are a lot of chefs who want a machine immediately,” said Sapan Vyas, product manager in the food and beverage division of Technical Supplies & Services Co. LLC.

Before lunch, Vyas said he had already had two confirmations. “They saw it within ten minutes, loved it and said they’ll have one, so they should have it in two days,” Vyas said.

“We are looking to get at least 10 out by the end of the day, because all of the decision makers are here, and we can talk to them and get their feedback,” he added

The machine is already being used in 35 hotels in Dubai, including Atlantis The Palm, The Address Dubai Marina and Al Bustan Rotana, as well as Hilton properties in other emirates, Vyas said. A contract has just been signed to distribute the machine in Bahrain and Lebanon, with a plan to expand into Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
