Hospitality Management Holdings (HMH) has partnered with Cleartrip, an India-based online travel portal, to help boost its Indian customer base.

In 2010, India was the second-largest hotel feeder market to Dubai, with around 638,000 hotel guests – second only to Britain.

Girma Wossenseged, vice president, e-commerce development, HMH, said: “Our alliance will help us take advantage of the rapidly expanding and lucrative travel sector in India, which is expected to grow to over US $20 billion in the current year.

“India is a major source market for Dubai’s vibrant tourism industry and through our alliance with Cleartrip we are confident of growing our market share significantly in the Indian tourism sector.”

Wossenseged added that currently, around 40% of HMH’s bookings come through IT and online channels.

Tarique Khatri, senior vice president of Cleartrip.ae, which launches two years ago, said: “Our alliance with HMH is a sign of deeper commitment to offer greater value to our growing customer base in the UAE.

“As one of the leading Indian travel portals that boasts of a strong footing in the India market, we feel this alliance will offer an incredible fillip to HMH who is looking for a larger share of the Indian tourism pie.”
