The legendary Alain Robert, a French-born skyscraper climber nicknamed Spiderman will climb Doha’s highest tower The Torch Doha hotel in Qatar on April 12, 2012.


Robert will officially climb The Torch Doha 300m tower, for the first time, without a safety rope and harness.


Guinness Book of Records will be present at the event as Robert attempts to make a world record, organised in collaboration with Aspire Zone Foundation.

Alain Robert’s production team will be shooting The Torch Doha Hotel climbing, as a part of his life documentary in 3D which will be broadcasted in cinemas around the globe.

Well-known for climbing unassisted, the 50-year-old has conquered more then 85 giant structures, including the Empire State Building, Chicago's Willis Tower and the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur.

 

He has climbed numerous giant structures around the globe, most of which he has scaled using only his bare hands and climbing shoes.

 

"I feel like a child and I finally want to open my present : I want to climb The Torch,” said Robert.

 

The Torch is situated in the middle of Aspire Zone, Doha's Sports City.

 

The event is expected to attract thousands of spectators to watch Alain's new record-breaking attempt.
