Rosewood will redevelop two of its existing hotels in KSA, including moving one to a new site, Hotelier Middle East can reveal.

Around US $70 million will be invested in moving the company’s Hotel  Al Khozama to a new location, the Al Khozama Centre, which will be stripped out and converted to a hotel.

Regional vice president for KSA for Rosewood and managing director of Al Faisaliah Hotel and Hotel Al Khozama, Erich Steinbock said: “It [Hotel Al Khozama] was one of the first luxury hotels in Riyadh. It’s been there 35 years even though it was only built with a lifespan of 20 years – it’s still booming but it does need rebuilding.”

He added that the hotel wouldn’t lose much custom, as “the staff will move over, and they are the ones who have built up these relations over the years”.

Al Faisaliah Hotel will also undergo a complete refurbishment to its north wing, which will start by the end of the year. This will include renovations of rooms, public areas and implementing new concepts in all of its restaurants.

Steinbock added: “We’re working with Superpotato [on the restaurants], which is well known for its live cooking stations, so we will definitely be including those.”

Around US $15 million will be spent on the hotel without the restaurants, and a further $7 million for the restaurants, and the refit should be completed by the end of next year.
