The PurMotion fitness and training system, founded by five-time Olympian Jorge Bonnet, has been launched into the Middle East market by Raymond Sport.

The fitness equipment has already been sold to Fitness First, with its Mirdif City outlet being the first to feature it. PurMotion is assembled using a central frame, with add-ons at each side and corner, allowing for up to 10 people to use it at the same time.

It is designed to work primarily with the user’s own body weight, as well as external weights and friction. All aspects are also designed to move freely to the body’s natural motion, rather than being fixed and causing strains.

Jorge Bonnet, who has competed in Judo and Bobsled in five separate Olympics, designed the system. He said: “The main influence was seeing so many young athletes getting injured. I have just tried to take something that has been out for a long time and make it better.”

Bonnet added that it was up the user how difficult it is to use, but said that it is flexible both in its composition, with various add-ons, as well as the usage of the particular parts.

Peter Foley, sales manager for Raymond Sport, said: “We have had a lot of interest, and would love to see it in hotels, as there are so many different options available for it. You don’t need to buy the whole frame and have every aspect of it – if hotels just want the add-ons, then they mount to the wall, to decrease the space needed.”

Foley added: “It is so much cheaper than kitting out a gym with machines that can cost two or three times as much to fill the same space.”
