UAE-based Rotana is eyeing major growth in Saudi Arabia over the next four years, according to COO Omer Kaddouri.

Currently the group operates one hotel in the Kingdom – its five-star, dry brand Rayhaan in Mecca.

“We have another Rayhaan opening in Riyadh next year and about seven other hotels signed in Saudi Arabia which are going to be opening up from 2013 all the way through to 2016,” Kaddouri told Hotelier Middle East.

He said the group, which operates three-, four- and five-star properties across the Middle East and North Africa, expected Saudi Arabia to become its second largest market after the UAE “in the near future”.

“Saudi Arabia’s a huge market. It’s very undersupplied and we’re going to be there in a big way within the next five to seven years,” revealed Kaddouri.

The group is looking to the major cities for further expansion, including Jeddah, Riyadh, Mecca, Medina, Dammam, Al Khobar.
