Starwood has delayed the completion date for the renovation of the Sheraton Cairo in Egypt from this summer to Q1 2013.
As part of the vast refurbishment, hotel general manager Sameh Abdel Wahab told Hotelier Middle East that three new dining outlets will be added to the property.
As well as renovating all 656 guestrooms, the hotel will also add a business centre with 10 meeting rooms, a 2500ft² ballroom for up to 1200 guests, and a health club.
“We will be adding three new cuisine outlets to the hotel and renovating the existing six, which are a mix of restaurants, cafes, bars and lounges. With nine outlets in total, we will be offering a comprehensive mix of Asian, Lebanese, Italian & International cuisine and our guests will be able to relax and dine in an outlet that suits their mood,” Wahab said.
The general manager revealed that the revamp forms part of a $6 billion investment by Starwood on the renovation of Sheraton hotels worldwide – $500 million of which is being spent in the EMEA.
“Sheraton Cairo is considered to be receiving one of the most comprehensive renovations at an operating Starwood property,” Wahab added.
He said: “It is a challenge to continue operating a hotel during renovations but our focus is always on ensuring our guests have a memorable experience and that they are provided with the exceptional service that they expect.”
