Swissotel Hotels and Resorts has announced plans to build a luxury property in Dubai and is slated to open in 2016.

After opening its first hotel in the Middle East in the holy city of Makkah, Saudi Arabia, the hotel has revealed plans for the 280-room Swissotel Jadaf Dubai.

The new build Swissotel is set to become an anchor deluxe hotel within a mixed use development comprising three hotels, residences, serviced apartments, retail & entertainment facilities.

The property will also include an all-day dining restaurant, three speciality restaurants, a Purovel Spa and meeting, conference and ballroom facilities.

“Dubai has been at the top of our wish list for a long time,” said Meinhard Huck, president Swissotel Hotels & Resorts, in a statement.

“Although a large accommodation offering already exists, thanks to the increase in visitors there is still demand for elegant hotels. This is an additional important step in our expansion in this region."

Swissotel said it is partnering with Aabar Properties, a real estate development, management and investment company on the project.

Khalifa Al Mehairi, CEO, Aabar Properties, said: “Venturing into hospitality and leisure segments has always been part of Aabar Properties long term strategies and I am glad that we are marking our presence in Dubai, besides our initiatives and ventures in Abu Dhabi, with this solid partnership with Swissotel Hotels & Resorts."
