Armani Hotel Dubai has partnered with two Dubai residents to support a marathon charity effort aimed at raising US $ 50,000 for the Christina Noble Children’s Foundation, which is building the Sunshine School for children in Vietnam.

The Arctic Xtreme team, comprising Diarmuid O’ Malley, publishing director for ITP Publishing and Neil Munro, sales and marketing director at Hertz UAE, joined forces with the Burj Khalifa-based hotel and raised AED 44,150 ($12,023) this morning alone.

The duo are participating in The Polar Circle Marathon later this month, which takes place Kangerlussuaq, Greenland, where temperatures routinely drop to between -10 and -20°C.

To boost fundraising efforts, they organised an eight kilometre run starting at Armani Hotel Dubai, with Jason Harding, regional general manager for Armani Hotels & Resorts and Amit Arora, group chief marketing officer, Emaar Hospitality Group also taking part.

The run was followed by breakfast and a charity auction, hosted by Dubai television presenter Tom Urquhart, with items provided by Armani Hotel Dubai including an overnight stay and a dinner party at home catered by one of the hotel’s speciality chefs.

Commenting on the fundraiser, Arctic Xtreme’s O’Malley said: “Ever since Neil and I first met with the Armani team a few months ago to plan for today’s event, they were really behind the initiative and wanted to make a significant contribution toward our efforts to raise $50,000 for the Cristina Noble Children’s Foundation and the Sunshine School in Vietnam.

“The organisation and support has been incredible all the way through and a real credit to all of the Armani team. We’ve already received so many compliments from so many attendees.”

He added: “Today’s initiative with Armani Hotel Dubai has really given a huge boost in our fundraising effort prior to departing for the Arctic next week for the Polar Circle Marathon, which will in turn make a real difference to kids’ lives in Vietnam as all money raised will directly go to the Sunshine School”.
