What first attracted you to the hospitality industry?
At the age of 14 I discovered a passion for the culinary side of our industry during an internship at a restaurant. That led to work as a part-time commis de cuisine in several renowned kitchens in my home town of Hamburg and by the age of 17 I founded my own small business which catered the private dinners of Hamburg society.

What has been your greatest achievement to date?

What attracted you to work in the Middle East?
The Middle East is an exciting region for our business where you find a variety of high-end hospitality concepts in the region, coupled with strong traditions of hospitality.

The growth in the region means you are working alongside the best in the business, which requires the highest levels of service quality and performance. This dynamic environment creates opportunities for truly memorable experiences. Coming here and working at the most iconic property in the Middle East was an opportunity I couldn’t miss.

What different challenges will you face in the new region?
As the CEO of Kempinski, Mr. Reto Wittwer always says: “The great thing about our business is that everywhere you go in the world people need to sleep, eat, and drink.” So the main challenge remains the same — to provide the best guest experience possible so you can build a loyal clientele.

What are you most looking forward to in the role?
At the Emirates Palace we have the distinct advantage of working at such an incredible property, as well as working with such a large and diverse staff.

Our team is made up of hoteliers from around the world, and while some people may find this a challenge, working with a diverse group of passionate people makes all the difference in delivering the unparalleled service and luxury that the Emirates Palace is known for.

Emirates Palace is already well established; what will you bring to the hotel?
The Emirates Palace is the icon of hospitality in Abu Dhabi, nevertheless the needs and wants of our clientele are constantly evolving.

I bring my lifelong passion for food and beverage, as well as a keen perception of industry trends, and the knowhow to best implement those into our operations to make sure we stay ahead of the curve.

Where do you see yourself in five years’ time?
To still be at the cutting edge of our industry and to be leading an outstanding team of hoteliers in bringing unique concepts and experiences to our guests.
