Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) has officially presented a five-star plaque to the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel in Dubai.

Majid Al Marri, director of hotel classification handed over the plaque, accompanied by Khalid Al Agroobi, director of licensing, Bader Abdullah, deputy director of the hotel Classification department and Khalid Al Marri, head of tourism licensing and follow up.

General manager, Rupprecht Queitsch, was joined by hotel manager Bill Keffer and the executive committee team to receive the classification for the world's tallest hotel at 355m.

“The JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai is a new addition to the city’s portfolio of business hotels that are increasingly in demand. We have conducted a number of site visits to identify all classification and licensing procedures. The hotel provides a wide range of facilities and restaurants as well as open spaces that meet all the guests’ needs and will add great value to Dubai as a tourism, business and commerce hub,” Majid Al Marri said:

“The JW Marriott Marquis will add significantly to Dubai in its drive to become the preferred choice for Meetings, Incentives, Conference and Events business. We are working in tandem with the Dubai Tourism and Commerce Marketing and Dubai Convention Bureau to put Dubai on the global business destination map,” added Queitsch.

The hotel opens in several phases, with its first tower of 804 rooms and suites in its soft opening phase, and with three of the final nine restaurants open today.

By January, 2013 the hotel will have all nine restaurants and five lounges open, with the grand opening scheduled to take place in February, 2013.

The number of restaurants and lounges that will be open in the initial phase will be limited to build expectation.
