Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi is giving guests the chance to observe the first of this season’s Hawksbill Turtles nesting close to the hotel on Saadiyat Island.

The beach is home to one of the most endangered turtle species in the world, which nest on the island every year between the months of April and August, after travelling half-way around the globe.

Turtle nests can contain between 90 and 100 eggs and have been clearly marked by government representatives to ensure hotel guests don’t disturb the hatching, expected within 50-70 days.

The property’s commitment to the local environment and its endangered species has recently been bolstered by the appointment of marine biologist, Arabella Willing, who transferred from its sister hotel Park Hyatt Maldives.

The chain also conducts educational programs with its employees through its corporate responsibility platform Hyatt Thrive.

”Abu Dhabi has an exciting marine life, which many people are even not aware of. Now is an excellent time to engage our guests and employees on how we can be more responsible towards our environment to make sure that the endangered species on our island remain protected,” said Willing.
