Carlson Rezidor’s new Park Inn by Radisson Hotel & Residence in Duqm, Oman, will open by the end of the year, it was announced on Sunday.
The hotel will cater to the growing number of younger travellers who prefer mid-market accommodation.
The company, one of the ten largest hotel groups worldwide, already has a Park Inn in the capital, Muscat, and is expanding to take advantage of the country’s $10bn investment in Duqm, a seaside city halfway along the Omani coast, to make it an industrial and economic hub.

“The Middle East is an important development market for Carlson Rezidor,” Rezidor Hotel Group president and CEO Wolfgang Neumann said.
“We aim to further strengthen our core brands in the region – Radisson Blu is covering the contemporary upper upscale segment while Park Inn by Radisson is catering to the dynamic mid-market segment targeting the growing clientele of Gen X and Y."
The Park Inn Duqm is under construction and will include 50 one-bedroom chalets, nine two-bedroom villas and 13 one-bedroom and two two-bedroom apartments. Another 46 units are planned to be added in the next five years.
The design and character of the units and hotel complex will cater “for the new generation traveller”, with “future-forward and trendsetting” aspects including an all-day dining restaurant, free wireless internet, indoor and outdoor bars, an outdoor swimming pool and a gym.
