The latest statistics reveal that 49.4 percent of all guests from Europe to Abu Dhabi stay in five-star prope, compared to just 22.2 percent of visitors from other Arab countries.
The latest data from the Statistics Centre Abu Dhabi (SCAD) have revealed that the total number of hotel guests in the UAE capital rose by 22.8 percent to 2.1m during the first quarter of 2013.
Visitor numbers to the city also increased by 6.1 percent year-on-year to 631,400 during the same period, while occupancy rate and average length of stay were also up by eight percent and 15.7 percent, respectively.
The largest increase in visitors was from sub-Saharan African countries, which were up 24.3 percent, followed by guests from non-Arab Asian nations, which increased by 19 percent. However, the number of guests from the UAE and other GCC countries fell by 4.8 percent and 1.2 percent, respectively.

According to the SCAD data, guests of five-star hotels accounted for 36.8 percent of total stays during the quarter, followed by four-star hotels at 28.6 percent, and three-stars or less at 20.2 percent. Guests of hotel apartments made up 14.5 percent of all stays.
The statistics showed that 49.4 percent of all guests from Europe stayed in five-star properties, compared to just 22.2 percent of visitors from other Arab countries.
The total revenues for all hotels in the emirate rose to AED1.4bn during the quarter, up 15.1 percent compared to the same period a year ago.
