Police are questioning a number of senior managers connected to a fatal crane collapse at The Address The BLVD hotel and residential development in Dubai which killed three workers.
Engineers, foremen and others in charge at a consultant and engineering company are in police custody, according to Dubai daily Gulf News.
Colonel Ali Ganem, director of Bur Dubai Police Station, was quoted as saying that a preliminary investigation suggested that the crane elevator, used to lift construction materials, was not fastened securely in the right position, which may have led to it collapsing on the workers who were standing under the crane.

He told Gulf News that senior managers on the project have serious questions to answer while work has been suspended on the site pending further on-site investigations.
Five other workers were injured and some are in the intensive care unit (ICU) in hospital.
Master developer Emaar Properties, which also built the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, launched The Address The BLVD project in September 2012.
The 63-storey tower is scheduled for completion in early to mid-2015 and will include 200 hotel rooms and 542 serviced apartments.
Emaar referred all queries regarding the fatal crane incident to contractor Brookfield Multiplex Construction which earlier issued a statement saying a detailed investigation was ongoing and that it is assisting the concerned authorities.
“We extend our condolences to the affected families, and will continue to extend our support to the injured,” it added.
