The Lalit Suri Hospitality Group, one of India’s largest privately owned hotel groups, has reportedly put plans for the Lalit Grand Fort Dubai hotel on hold.

The company is instead now looking to open its first hotel outside of India in London by 2015, after reports the English language broadsheet dna.

Lalit Suri Hospitality Group chairperson and managing director Jyotsna Suri reportedly said: “The London boutique property with 70 rooms would be our first operational overseas property to be opened in 2015. Though we had started out with our Dubai property much earlier, things didn’t work out and hence have gone on to the backburner now.”

The 244 room Lalit Grand Fort Dubai project was first announced back in 2007 in collaboration with Dubai developer Nakheel, with a ground-breaking ceremony taking place the following year and the hotel scheduled for completion by 2014.
