A number of upgrades are underway at Grand Hyatt Doha in Qatar, including an expansion to the Jaula Spa & Gym, a restaurant refurbishment and launch of a new marina and beach club.

General manager Christoph Franzen, who sits on the advisory panel for the Hotelier Middle East Qatar Hospitality Summit – being held at Grand Hyatt Doha on April 15 – said the improvements were aimed at ensuring the property remains “the hotel of choice for many travellers coming to Doha”

“We are currently expanding our recreation facilities at our Jaula Spa & Gym and will double the size of the same,” he revealed. “We are also introducing a children's play area on the beach and a ‘Jaula Kids Club' inside the hotel over the coming months. Another addition will be our ‘Jaula Studio’; where we will offer a range of classes to Doha residents and guests”.

In terms of F&B, Franzen said the team was “working on a completely new concept for our all day dining restaurant, The Grill”.

“We are currently discussing various concepts and ideas and are in the design phase of the project. While we cannot reveal too much, it will be the most innovative concept in Doha in terms of a dining venue and lounge and the name will also change.

“We hope to kick-off the project towards the end of the year and be operational in the first half of 2015,” said Franzen.

He added that he was also in discussions with various designers and marina builders for the Grand Hyatt Doha Marina and Beach Club, intended to be “the most luxurious marina and beach club in the city”.

“It will be small and bespoke if we are going ahead. Imagine traditional marina services coupled with a five-star experience in terms of services and facilities,” said Franzen.

Grand Hyatt Doha has also recently introduced Grand Privilege, a membership scheme for Doha residents.

Franzen explained: “We want to recognise Doha residents better and offer them great deals all year round. We are just launching our Grand Privilege membership programme, offering anyone living in the country great deals in our rooms and outlets. This is another strategy to tie-in more closely with the people living in this wonderful city”.
