The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company has appointed Ibrahim Barghout as the new area vice president for Middle East and Africa. He takes over from Pascal Duchauffour, who has been given a more senior role with the company.

In his new role, Barghout will oversee hotel performance, portfolio development, and owner relations as part of his operational responsibilities.

Duchauffour has moved to the company's offices in Chevy Chase in the USA, where he is now in charge of the hotels on the East Coast.

Prior to joining The Ritz-Carlton, Barghout worked with parent company Marriott International as area vice president of the Middle East for the group, where he was responsible for Marriott’s portfolio of operating properties in the Middle East and supported the growth of Marriott-branded hotels in the region.

Barghout began his career with Marriott in 1981 and has worked at a number of the group’s properties in various roles, including hotel manager of The Ritz-Carlton, Pentagon City; executive assistant manager of F&B at The Ritz-Carlton, Washington, DC, and corporate director of franchise, F&B at Marriott International Headquarters. He has also held a number of hotel general manager positions in the Middle East.

Commenting on Barghout’s new role, The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company’s global officer, worldwide operations, Bob Kharazmi said: “With our expanding portfolio in the MEA region, Ibrahim’s expertise in development and stakeholder-relations will be an invaluable asset in strengthening our brand footprint and enhancing our range of services.”
