Bin Haider Hospitality, a subsidiary of Mohammad Omar Bin Haider Group (MOBH), has rebranded its Holiday Inn Sharjah as Grand Excelsior Hotel Sharjah and taken over management of the property from InterContinental Hotels Group.

The 12 storey, 180 room property is the third hotel to be internally branded as a Grand Excelsior hotel. The first two were in Bur Dubai and Al Barsha.

This development comes as the group pursues further growth in its hospitality division, with plans for seven new hotel projects across the UAE.

Bin Haider Hospitality Division group general manager David Cockburn said: “Our plan is to be present in key locations across Dubai including the Palm Jumeirah, DuBiotech City, Studio City, DMZ and Al Nahda. The group’s five year strategy is to more than double its current hotel portfolio leading up to 2020.

“Our current strategic relationships with Starwood and IHG will be expanded, and we will also be introducing additional global branded management groups to our portfolio and further expanding our Grand Excelsior Hotels and Resorts brand throughout Dubai and the region."

He added that the Grand Excelsior Hotel brand had been developed in response to growth opportunities, including those presenting following Dubai’s successful bid to host Expo 2020.

The company is also looking to tap into the growing market demand for an upscale hotel brand that reflects pride in the Arabian customs and the local traditions.
