Hyatt Hotels Corporation and The Indian Hotels Company Limited, also known as Taj Group, have been named among 36 companies around the world that stand out for their standards of workplace excellence.

Both hotel groups were recipients of a Gallup Great Workplace Award, which is based on surveys of the companies’ employees. At least 80% of their global workforces had to respond to the survey to make the businesses eligible.

Hyatt Hotels had already won the award twice before while The Indian Hotels Company, part of Tata Group, is now a five-time winner.

Hyatt Hotels Corporation chief human resources officer Robb Webb said: “Hyatt is extremely proud of our strong workplace environment, unique familial culture and the deep emotional connections that are shared by our 95,000 colleagues around the world.

“We believe that the passion and commitment of our colleagues are critical to our long-term success, and we are focused on helping one another achieve our full potential to better serve our guests each day. We are honoured that our colleagues have once again reaffirmed our efforts to care for the individual by recognising Hyatt as a best place to work.”

According to Gallup, leaders of the winning organisations understand that employee engagement drives real business outcomes and have mastered how to engage their workforces.

Each award recipient linked engagement to business outcomes and integrated engagement into four key areas: strategy and leadership, accountability and performance, communication and knowledge management, and development and ongoing learning.

“We take great pride in cultivating a culture that values people and believes in building long-term relationships,” said Taj Hotels managing director & CEO Raymond Bickson. “Our employees are our greatest asset and this award directly reflects their hard-work, dedication and commitment to the organisation.

“Being the oldest Tata group company, The Taj has had a long history of striving hard to go beyond everyday rigour and create an environment where employees collectively feel a sense of belonging, purpose and are aligned with the organisation’s values and mission."
