UAE-based City Seasons Hotels will be introducing a new three-star budget brand for the Dubai and Abu Dhabi market, group director marketing and communications Elise Sarkis-Talj told Hotelier Middle East.

“Dubai is a major address for budget hotels, and Abu Dhabi also. You see a lot of five-star and deluxe hotels springing up, but you don’t see budget hotels and other categories matching that growth, which we believe has a lot of potential,” she explained.

While the group has not decided on a name for the budget brand, Sarkis-Talj said: “We are keen on City Seasons, but I think that having named the five-star brand as Royal Rose, it means the owners are open to the idea of calling it something else. In any case, the City Seasons brand will have to be included.”

Sarkis-Talj also revealed the group is eyeing the Dubai World Central site for Expo 2020 as one of the locations for the property.

“Besides the buzz of 2020 and all that it’s bringing with it, you will have a lot of movement in Dubai and around the World Central and Al Maktoum International Airport. Having the airport placed there in the overall vision has a meaning and if they are taking the energy to find and the money to build a hotel in such an area, it means this area is bound to grow. Obvously, wherever it is busy, we’ll go – where the action is, City Seasons will be,” she added.

City Seasons currently owns and operates six properties in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Dubai and Muscat. A seventh property – City Seasons BurJuman is due to open in Dubai by the end of the year.
