Hotelier speaks to Jennifer Lombard Knight, front office manager at Intercontinental Regency Hotel, Bahrain about how winning the first ever Young Hotelier of the Year Award at last year's Hotelier Awards has impacted her career.
What’s your job title today? I was assistant front office manager of Intercontinental Regency Hotel, Bahrain. Since September 2014 I have been front office manager at Interncontinental Doha, The City.
Has winning a Hotelier Award impacted your career in any way and if so how? Being the first recipient of the Young Hotelier Award was a wonderful milestone in my career and especially as a woman in a year that women dominated the awards. The main impact it had was inspiring others; from my colleagues around the world to new graduates, and to know that no matter what stage you are at in your career, through hard work and dedication anything is achievable if you aim high.
Are you hoping to be nominated this year for an award? This year I would be honoured to be nominated once again, but I have yet to complete a year in my new role. I am certainly looking forward to future years to come though.
What is the best piece of advice you can give other hoteliers who want to win a Hotelier Award? Deliver great results for your organisation and people, work hard and celebrate success with those who were part of your journey, no matter the result.

Where do you see yourself in five years’ time? I’d like to be a hotel manager or operations manager
What are you doing to achieve your goals and dreams? I’m placing a focus on both short and long term goals, but more importantly I’m continuing to learn from those around me and develop my people. Within all aspects of being a great hotelier, teamwork is the most vital attribute of all.
What’s your dream position? It’s my dream to manage a global hotel chain
Who is the one person that inspires you most? My inspiration comes from my family. There can be no greater inspiration than unity and love.
What is your life ambition outside of work? To continue exploring different cultures around the world through travel and to make each moment more memorable than the last.
