A trial run of a fourth concourse at Dubai International Airport is expected to take place soon.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, president of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and chairman of Dubai Airports, said Concourse D will soon become a reality.

The new concourse, which will feature a casual dining restaurant by celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck, among other outlets, will be connected to an existing terminal by automated train is due to open in the first quarter of next year.

Passenger numbers are to be boosted by the recent completion of the runway refurbishment programme.

Some 70 million passengers expected to pass through the airport this calendar year.

“We are confident the completion of the major runway refurbishment programme in our history and full schedule operations ahead of the Eid Al Fitr holidays will bring in a significant surge in air traffic,” said Al Maktoum.

The development of Al Maktoum International Airport with an eventual capacity of 160mn passengers is also progressing in phases, he added.
