Meraas Holding has unveiled the blueprint for its Dubai Parks & Resorts project in Jebel Ali. The project was originally due to be completed in 2014 but has now been pushed to 2016.

The first phase of Dubai Parks & Resorts will feature Lapita, a family themed hotel, which will cater to travellers and residents looking for a weekend or week-long visit.

The master plan for phase one of the AED10 billion (US $2.7 billion) project also includes three theme parks - Motiongate Dubai, Bollywood Parks Dubai, and Legoland Dubai - as well as Riverpark, an entrance plaza district with retail, dining, and entertainment options.

Motiongate Dubai will feature four zones and bring to life some of the most recognisable Hollywood characters from the big screen, while Bollywood Parks Dubai, is being billed as “the first theme park in the world dedicated solely to the Indian film industry”.

As the first Legoland park in the Middle East and seventh worldwide, Legoland Dubai will be an interactive park designed for children aged two to 12.

The development will be overseen by new CEO of Dubai Parks & Resorts Limited Raed Al Nuami, who was previously chief leisure and entertainment officer at Meraas.
