The company currently has 30 hotels confirmed in the pipeline for the MENA region — double last year’s number. Signings are confirmed for Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Georgia, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Tunisia and the UAE.
A third of the 30 signed properties are set to open by the end of this year: four in Algeria, two in Saudi Arabia, one in Sudan and three in the UAE.

Golden Tulip has been allied with Louvre Hospitality Group since 2009, which operates six brands. Now it is set to take on two of Louvre’s budget brands and introduce Campanile and Premiere Class to Tunisia, Saudi Arabia and Oman, where the aim is to sign 20 hotels in the next three to five years.

Additionally, having opened its first MENA Royal Tulip branded luxury hotel in the Middle East & Africa region in Alexandria, Egypt in July last year, the group is now in negotiations to sign its fifth property in the region under this brand, to be located in Jeddah.

Recently, agreements have been signed with Middle East Airlines, Kuwait Airways and Tunis Air as part of its Golden Tulip MENA loyalty programme, and further demonstrating its commitment to expansion in the Middle East, the group has recently appointed a new regional ecommerce role.

In addition to his achievements for the company, Moukarzel also lectures in hospitality quality management around Europe and the Middle East, contributing to the development of hoteliers who have gone on to senior roles in the region. He was responsible for forming the management programme at the University of Saint Esprit Kaslik-Lebanon.
