Marriott International has appointed a new vice president to drive the growth of its Autograph Collection of independent four- and five-star hotels and hinted at the expansion of the brand into the Middle East.

Julius Robinson will drive, define and execute global strategy for the collection, which currently features more than 60 hotels around the world.

The company said that, due to strong interest from the owner/franchisee community, further expansion of the brand is planned for the Middle East/Africa and Central America.

It will also welcome four hotels from The Ambassador Collection and four from The Davenport Hotel Collection, again all in the US.

“We are delighted to welcome these extraordinary experiences into our growing portfolio,” said Julius Robinson, vice president of the Autograph Collection.

“Being able to partner with hotels who offer travelers an experience that is firmly grounded in the independent essence of Autograph Collection is important to us as we continue to grow around the world.”
