Abu Dhabi-based Rotana is to make its first foray into East Africa with a 254-key hotel in Dar es Salaam, the largest city in Tanzania.

The hotel will include 191 luxury rooms and suites, as well as 63 serviced apartments, spread across 24 floors. It will be part of MNF Square Salaam, a 65,000 square meters mixed-use project which also features retail and parking facilities.

“We are confident that we will introduce a new dimension of hospitality in the country,” said Rotana president and CEO Omer Kaddouri. “The property in Tanzania falls in line with our strategic goal to operate 100 hotels by 2020.

“Tanzania has tremendous potential and we are anticipating an excellent response for our debut project in the country. Dar es Salaam is a business hub and a key gateway to Tanzania’s safari destinations and the hotel will cater to both, resident and visiting business guests as well as tourists.

“The property will expand the available supply of luxury hotel rooms in the Tanzanian capital and we expect it to be very well received within the local hospitality market.”
