The View, a mountain resort in the highlands of Al Dakhiliya Governorate in Oman, has reopened following and extensive makeover, with its tented accommodation replaced with ‘pods’.

Located two hours away from Muscat, on the summit of Hail al Shas in the Wilayat of Hamra, the holiday retreat was reopened under the auspices of HE Maitha bint Saif Al-Mahrouqi, under secretary, Ministry of Tourism Oman, January 15.

Following an eight-month-long refurbishment project, it now features 30 pods, each featuring a king-size bed, LCD TV and standalone bathtub, among other amenities. Lodgings used to be provided in 15 tented structures.

All the pods have canyon views and the resort also has a temperature-controlled infinity-edge swimming pool. Other features include the Sunset Lounge and a multi-cuisine restaurant that can cater to more than 40 guests at a time.

For the corporate market, the property has a fully equipped multipurpose conference hall, while for the more leisure-focused guest there is mountain biking, hiking and rock climbing offered.

“Thanks to the extensive revamp, The View is more than just an accommodation with dramatic panoramas of Al Hamra’s rugged grandeur,” said Abdulmunim Al Zawawi, chairman of The Zahara Group.

“It’s an oasis that offers reposeful tranquillity on one hand, and a comfortable base on the other – for the visitor to explore some of northern Oman’s finest natural and historical monuments. Indeed, The View is like no other holiday haven that Oman has to offer.”
