Carlson Rezidor has expanded its hotel pipeline with the addition of Radisson Blu Hotel, Juba, which will be its first property in South Sudan.

The 158-room hotel is set to open in the second quarter of 2017 and is being developed by Blue Diamond Hotel Limited. Its opening will build on the operator’s presence across 24 countries in Africa.

“South Sudan is a promising emerging country, and we look forward to establishing our presence there together with our partner Blue Diamond Hotel Limited”, said Wolfgang M. Neumann, president & CEO of Rezidor.

Already under construction, the hotel is located in the Hai Malakal district, overlooking the White Nile River, and 8km away from Juba International Airport.

Africa offers excellent opportunities due to its huge natural resources and workforces, improved infrastructure, and a growing middle class,” said Rezidor executive vice president & chief development officer Elie Younes.

“We want to grow further on the continent together with our existing and new partners through transparent and responsible long-term business relationships. We also want to be a leading employer in Africa.

“By creating new jobs for local talent and by contributing to the communities where we operate in, we can make a huge difference.”
