Madinat Jumeirah recently announced its fourth property, Jumeirah Al Naseem, and the resort’s general manager Margaret Paul told Hotelier Middle East that it will hire an additional 1000 staff for the new property.

“We are looking at an additional 1000 new colleagues. Currently, we have around 2800 at the resort.”

When asked how the resort will manage hiring this number, she said: “We most likely will get a little movement between Jumeirah hotels.

“It will be the first Dubai Jumeirah opening since the creek side, so there is opportunities for people here that might be ready for their next promotion or might want to move from a corporate to leisure hotel. I am very confident that we will be able to grow our Jumeirah family very easily; I am not concerned at all.”

She added that some synergies will leverage existing human resources. “In terms of the ExCom team, some of the resort functions will extend across the new extension.

“We will have an executive team for the hotel, on an operational side, but for the resort functions we already have people who are able to and will be delighted to manage a fourth hotel, which is great for us because you have the knowledge and expertise and you don’t have to start from the beginning. So it is a real plus in terms of the opening.”

In response to high turnover across hotel industry, she said that the company spends a lot of time ensuring colleagues are happy at work.

“We have a lot of programmes to help them develop and grow their skills, and when we recruit, we don’t recruit only for now but with a vision for the future. When we hire a person, we always make sure that we can see him grow within the culture of Jumeirah.”

The 430-key hotel, scheduled to open in 2016, will feature three swimming pools, private beach access, and two banqueting rooms, which will complement the existing conference and events facilities at Madinat Jumeirah.
In addition, it will have nine restaurant and bars, and a turtle sanctuary as well.
