Sundus Investments Projects has officially broken ground on the Sundus Rotana Hotel development and the event was commemorated by Sundus Investments chairman Mohammed Al Ardhi and Rotana vice chairman Selim El Zyr laying the foundation block.
The four-star business hotel will be the first phase of the Sundus Airport Heights project when it opens in February 2017.
The hotel will comprise 215 guest rooms, including suites, as well as a ballroom, six meeting rooms, an executive lounge, a boardroom, and fully-equipped business centre.
The second phase of the project will include the development of Sundus Arjaan by Rotana, which will include 85 luxury hotel apartments, including studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom units.
The serviced residence property will also include an all-day dining restaurant, lobby lounge, and 24-hour room service.
El Zyr said: “Oman has always been a targeted market for our group as it has all the essential components to emerge as a leading tourism destination in the region. Sundus Investments’ projects complement our expansion plans and offer us an opportunity to consolidate our status in the market with two of our top brands.
“Sundus Rotana and Sundus Arjaan by Rotana will offer Rotana’s signature blend of comfort and refinement, complemented by upgraded business and leisure facilities and a choice of dining options.”
The two properties will collectively span 40,000m2 and will contribute to Oman’s Vision 2020 tourism goals.
