Marriott International has introduced a new feature to their mobile app – Mobile Request, which allows guests to request services and amenities.

Inititally available to 46 hotels worldwide, the new feature will eventually be rolled out to all Marriott hotels this summer.

Dubai Marriott Harbour Hotel & Suites in the UAE, Amman Marriott Hotel in Jordan and Cairo Marriott Hotel & Omar Khayyam Casino in Egypt were some of the first hotels to get the app.

Mobile Request will be available to the 50 million members of Marriott Rewards, the company’s loyalty program.

The feature offers a chat function to make real-time requests at individual hotels and to have immediate responses and interaction.

There is also a drop-down menu with the most requested services and amenities, such as extra towels and pillows.

Neal Jones, chief sales & marketing officer, MEA at Marriott International, said: “We know that today’s travelers want a mobile experience built around their changing needs and desire to communicate on their terms. Mobile Request is the brand’s next evolution since it introduced mobile check-in, checkout and room ready alerts worldwide.”

Some of the benefits that the hotel branded tested were in scenarios such as when guests are in transit and need to request services and amenities before their hotel arrival, such as having a car service meet them at the airport.

Guests who are travelling and need to be connected to their hotel can simply open an app, rather than having to find the hotel’s phone number and punch in ten or more digits.

Mobile Request also gives guests who have already checked in immediate access to the hotel, rather than having to call or visit the front desk.
